iv been running a $100 trademe (scarles) SSQV for 12 months now, it HAS had issues with its cric clip not pushing the BOV hard against the o-ring seal hard enough. but i just pumped a ring of RTV silicone on top of the o-ring and its now sealed.. after inspecting my mates SSQV from "driven performance" i would most likely buy it from them. but scarles is the cheapest.. i think? alot of people here give me shit for not buying/recommending genuine parts but i just cant afford them. you could always grab a second hand factory BOV?i would of given you my factory 1 but as i used it for a bung while i had the twin setup its now pumped full of silicone.

I'm just using a factory valve, reversed so it holds boost. Any mitsubishi valve is able to be used - my airtrek and my vr4 can have the valves swapped between them, evo 123456 is all the same, 789 went to a metal valve which is a bit better - they're made of metal and will hold big psi.

You can get a second hand GFB or blitz valve for about a hundred bucks, I'd far and away push a second hand decent quality valve over a brand new trademe special, or just get another factory valve for like $20, I've probably got a spare you can just have lying around somewhere.

To be honest every time I've gone to a venting valve I've said "oh there's no difference", but putting the factory one back on again makes you realise how much it really does mess the car up in terms of idle and coming on and off the fun pedal in a hurry.

if its a small modded street car

personally i dont see the point in buying aftermarket bit's

the factory evo plumb back's from the 1-6 hold 12-14psi of boost,as said above you can always go to a metal one from a evo 9,which holds big boost

i was the type to run out and buy flashy aftermarket parts for my previous vr4,spent an honest packet load on it,and it just didnt perform how id expected

recently build me an evo 1 for next to nothing, used mostly factory parts, and modified them if need be,and i can tell you the response and pull on it,is mint, yet it drives/idles like it should

only aftermarket part i spent money on it for was a tial wastegate, because i could use the factory internal as i faced the compressor cover on the turbo downwards

anywho back on topic before i get to carried away

my advice, get an evo 7+ bov and youll be sussed Dancing

I've got a few factory valves sitting in my garage gathering dust...as I'm sure others on here have.

If you want to throw a factory one back on, let me know.

Just pay for freight/postage and its yours.

Check your emails and send me your address dude.

Buggery bugger too...wish I had checked your post on Monday.

I was just ripping through your area in my VR4 on Monday visiting family and friends...Marton, Hunterville, through Fielding and back through Palmy to Wellington...could have stopped in and dropped it off as I carry a spare factory valve (ever since an aftermarket one caught a rock one day) in my 'spare-parts box'

Has anyone got a spare factory valve??

Sad

Checked my own I was gonna send...and noticed a crack at the base of the vaccum nipple...so, well, no use me sending this one to the guy as it'll just feck out on him.

Sorry dude. I'm positive I have another one in the garage. Will hunt around for it amongst all my other crap.

Confused
